Parts Technician

Job Summary:

Operating from our Fort McKay main shop, the parts technician duties requires ordering and receiving of various parts required for our facilities and equipment.  The individual in this position must have the ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment to ensure materials are receiving, stocked, assigned and shipped in an efficient manner that mitigates any negative impact to the business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ordering and issuing parts and materials to various personnel and areas of BME
  • Working directly with our maintenance department to ensure parts are available and dispensed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintenance of on-line parts inventory
  • Seeking cost effective parts and material sources that continue to meet corporate and provincial legislative requirements

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years experience in a part technician position in the transportation sector.
  • Possess valid driver’s license (min class 5) with clean abstract
  • Be knowledgeable in the various aspects of the trucking industry
  • Above average troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. outlook, excel, sharepoint, etc)
  • Preference shall be given to candidates that have a journeyman status as a parts technician
  • OSSA (or OSSA BSO) and CSTS certification
  • Must successfully pass BME pre-employment evaluation, D&A and fit for duty pre-employment screening

Heavy Duty Mechanic (Journeyman) Fort McMurray

Job Summary:

Operating from our Fort McKay main shop, this position involves shop and field repairs to our fleet of heavy duty highway trucks. Candidates shall have knowledge on all aspects of heavy spec trucks with preference given to those that possess experience with water, vac, high pressure and flusher units.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Repair or replace defective parts, components or systems
  • Install new or replacement parts according to manufacturer and/or truck specification
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure work completed meets manufacturers’ specification and AB Transportation regulations
  • Completion of repair documentation including but not limited to work order, field level risk assessment, and hazard identification
  • Follow instructions for tasks assigned by shop supervisor
  • Complete daily housekeeping of assigned area or service vehicle to ensure maintenance of company image
  • Attend daily tool box and safety meetings as scheduled and adhere to corporate and site safety regulations and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Must be certified as a Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (min 3 years heavy truck experience)
  • Possess valid driver’s license (min class 5) with clean abstract
  • Be knowledgeable in all aspects of heavy truck repair including, but not limited to hydraulic, electronic, suspension and computer diagnosis
  • Previous or related experience with water, vac and steam trucks preferred
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • OSSA (or OSSA BSO) and CSTS certification
  • Must successfully pass BME pre-employment evaluation, D&A and fit for duty pre-employment screening

Hydro Vac Operator (Class 1 or 3) Fort McMurray

Job Summary:

Operating from our Fort McKay main shop, this position involves the safe operation of a tri-drive hydro or combo vac unit. Operators should be mechanically inclined and physically fit to work in all kinds of weather. Preference will be given to candidates that possess previous hydro-vac experience in the industrial sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate Tri-drive hydro and combo vac units in a safe and efficient manner
  • Must be physically able to perform tasks and work in all weather
  • Completion of daily documentation including but not limited to daily log books, customer work orders, field level risk assessment, pre/post trip inspections
  • Follow instructions for tasks assigned by Dispatch or Supervisor
  • Complete daily housekeeping of assigned truck to ensure maintenance of company image
  • Attend daily tool box and safety meetings as scheduled and adhere to corporate and site safety regulations and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid Class 1 or 3 operator’s license with clean driver’s abstract
  • Minimum 3 years experience (including up to 18 speed manual class 1 equipment)
  • Previous (or related) experience operating hydro or combo vac units
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • TDG, OSSA (or OSSA BSO) and CSTS certification
  • Must successfully pass BME driver’s evaluation, D&A and fit for duty pre-employment screening

Compensation Range:

  • $30.00 – $33.84/hr (depending on experience)
  • 14 days on and 7 days off shift rotation
